About the Department:

The Corporate Sector Coverage (US CSC) team is focused on managing and expanding the global relationship with multi-national US corporate clients and prospects, offering the complete suite of ING corporate banking and treasury products across our international network – with a natural focus on Europe.

Our US corporate clients are typically large American stock listed companies, with a revenue base of at least USD 2bn, a considerable footprint in Europe (revenues of over €500m), and with a credit profile of BB/Ba or better. We cover US Multinationals in different subsectors of the economy to include Manufacturing & Heavy Industries, Chemicals, Retail & Consumer Products, Packaging, Services, and Other.

The US CSC team is measured on a global income basis and does not target international (foreign Headquartered) corporate clients. The US CSC team is pursuing a strategy to increase and broaden the income generation from existing ‘development’ clients, as well as from attractive prospects meeting the aforementioned criteria. The US CSC Team is based in New York and consists of 13 Front Office professionals and is supported by a dedicated 5-person KYC Team.

Responsibilities

Assist the Parent Account Managers (PAMs) in managing the relationship with designated US Corporate Clients in all areas including commercial client management, marketing and origination, transaction execution, CDD, portfolio review and team/departmental support activities:

  • Coordinate annual credit review of client relationships including:
    • Identifying and analyzing key credit issues related to a transaction / client
    • Proposing and reviewing terms and conditions for transactions / RFP’s, including pricing, structure and covenants
    • Guiding annual group reviews and transactions through the Risk / Credit process
  • Developing a well-rounded knowledge of the sectors to which the Associate is allocated
  • Creating and maintaining strategic global client account plans
  • Supporting the PAM in client meetings and preparation of comprehensive marketing presentations
  • Identifying commercial opportunities for new business, including cross selling of ING’s products globally, in close cooperation with various product teams
  • Identifying and analyzing potential prospect clients, within set growth and portfolio parameters
  • Providing support in origination of transactions, keeping in mind the requirements of the client and ING’s product capabilities across geographies
  • Providing support in execution of transactions in collaboration with clients, product specialists and the network
  • Participating in client visits, requiring traveling across the U.S. and occasionally in Europe and being actively engaged with Clients
  • Ensuring data quality in internal client management and credit commitment databases, including responsibility for coordinating KYC and ESR matters
  • Developing advanced knowledge in a specific product area and/or Rep Office activity, and sharing this with colleagues

Flexibility / Efficiency

There is a high level of interaction and coordination applicable with the ING network (e.g. product specialists, local relationship managers and credit committees). The Analyst/Associate will be involved in coordinating internal processes efficiently.

Job requirements

  • BA/BS required; Master’s degree is a plus
  • One to three years of banking experience, ideally in client relationship management, financial advisory, corporate/structured/acquisition/syndicated lending and/or an event finance type role
  • Good overall knowledge and understanding of ING’s product capabilities to include Working Capital Solutions, Transaction Services, Financial Markets and Debt Capital Markets.
  • Experience with corporate credit analysis, structuring and execution of lending transactions
  • A strong understanding of ING’s commercial banking platform and international network
  • Solid Excel and PowerPoint proficiency, applied in financial analysis and preparation of presentations
  • Willingness to complete the FINRA SIE, Series 79, and 63 exams
