Job description

  • Analyse charterparties and all related shipping documents and create and compute demurrage and shipping-related claims with shipowners;
  • Review charterparty related demurrage and shipping costs claims received;
  • Analyse sale contracts and all related documents (including GTCs) and create and compute demurrage and shipping related claims with counterparties, including suppliers, receivers and terminals;
  • Review demurrage and sales contract related demurrage and shipping costs claims received;
  • Counter and negotiate settlements; Liaise with the internal business where required;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships both with counterparties and with the internal business;
  • Assist in regularly reporting outstanding positions to Management;
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and legal case law to ensure charterparty and/or trading terms are relevant and updated.

Job requirements

  • At least 3 years of working experience in demurrage/ claims (ideally in both charterparty and sale contract claims) handling the whole spread of demurrage claims across the full value range
  • Tertiary education - Polytechnic Diploma and above
  • Analytical, numerate, hardworking and proactive
  • Meticulous with an eye for details
  • Open to embracing AI tools and technologies to drive efficiency in day-to-day tasks.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Able to work in a team and independently
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
