Their starting point is: together we can achieve more than we could individually.

Our purpose

For big or small challenges, in every area, people join forces in search of solutions. Rabobank has been doing this for almost 125 years. And they will continue doing this. To grow a better world together.

Our history

At the end of the 19th century, Dutch farmers and horticulturists wanted to modernize but had difficulty getting credit. So they decided to establish credit cooperatives. These cooperative banks became a great success. Starting in the 1950s, the farmers’ lending banks also started welcoming non-agricultural entrepreneurs and private individuals. By that time, there were over 1,300 local Rabobanks. They evolved into general financial services providers, no longer only for savings and agricultural credit. The client base was rapidly expanding. The local Rabobanks opened more and more branches in large cities and new residential areas. Everyone had a Rabobank branch somewhere close by. This is the name that has been etched on building facades since 1972.

Our operations

With their partners and members, Rabobank wants to contribute to positive change and promote a more sustainable, inclusive society in which everyone can pursue their ambitions. Together with clients and members – using Rabobank’s products, knowledge and networks – they work towards creating a better world for future generations. Rabobank does this with their banking services, by going the extra mile and through social initiatives. In doing so, they focus on the key transitions and current themes in their markets and society. To be specific, Rabobank has summarized their ambition in five themes: Banking4Food, sustainable entrepreneurship, sustainable living, energy transition, and financially healthy living.
